Characters and Their Traits
Percy Jackson is fourteen-years-old. Percy has brown hair and deep sea blue eyes. He is the son of Poseidon, the Greek god of the sea, and has the power of controlling water and breathing underwater. Percy is very brave in many parts of the story. For instance, he and his friends must enter the Labyrinth, and find a way to save his camp. Instead of cowering, he jumped straight into the deep, dark entrance. He has ADHD, making him hard-wired for battle and he has dyslexia, allowing him to read Ancient Greek. Although, most demigods have these abilities. All demigods also have some sort of flaw. Percy's flaw is the fact he is a very loyal person. He is loyal to his mother, his friends, and his mentors. He will do anything to save them, even give up victory.
Grover, Percy's best friend, is a Greek satyr, a half man, half goat. He is Percy's protector and best friend. He uses reed pipes to defend himself in battle, by playing magical tunes that all have their own effect. He is one with The Wild, the world's wilderness and natural life. His main goal is to find the lost god of The Wild, Pan, or else he will lose his searcher's license, which allows him to search for Pan and go on adventures. He will always be there for Percy, no matter how scared he is of a quest.
This is Annabeth Chase, daughter of Athena, goddess of wisdom. Annabeth is very smart. For instance, the gang found the Sphinx, a riddle-giving monster who eats all people that fail its quiz. Annabeth memorized the entire quiz, and its answers. She is also great at battling and any type of strategy. For example, she uses a knife, and that is a sign of bravery and intelligence. As stubborn as she is, she must keep Percy and Grover in check from doing anything irrational. She is one of Percy's closest companions, and she always knows what's going on because the camp leader, Chiron, who is a centaur, is always speaking to her about things they keep secret.
Tyson is Percy's half-brother, and a cyclops. He is taller and stronger than the average human or demigod. He is very sensitive for his size, and will try to crush anyone who has a conflict with his friends. Like Percy, he has the ability to breath underwater. He and Percy also get along with any horse, because horses were created by Poseidon in ancient myths. Tyson has a soft spot for just about anything except monsters. He doesn't get along with Grover very well either, because some cyclopes are known for eating satyrs and other wildlife satyrs are fond of. Tyson maybe soft, but he will always fight for what is good.
Rachel Elizabeth Dare is a mortal that can see through the Mist, and magical veil that tricks mortals into seeing something other than the Greek monsters, gods, etc. This is very rare for a mortal, and coincidentally, Percy's mother has the same ability. Rachel met Percy on his last adventure while he was in a fight. She and Percy met again at their new school. Rachel's father is a refined man who wishes to see Rachel go to a school to teach her manners, but she always refuses. She plays a big role in this story, and proves to be not just an average mortal girl.
